We are way outside the norm; zero people I know will think this way. They haven’t a clue, years of narrative control has made them completely bereft, almost children. The American population, (I’m Canadian, same thing) is fully misinformed.

Three men in business suits accomplished the obsolescence of the US's 30 military bases in the M.E. in short order. Great win for soft power & China, Iran, KSA. #BRICS+ will be the end of the #EmpireOfLies

If it accomplshes nothing else, this accord proves that the neocon conceit that only American hegemony can keep the peace is so much self-serving bull.

Rather, Washington seeks to stir up strife, and the Saudis had to know that, sooner or later, they'd find themselves on the Empire's naughty list. This also explains why the Saudis declined to further support Credit Suisse.

I really hope you are right about hope....from Australia with the latest AUKUS deal, it is not looking very hopeful. Thank you for an interesting analysis.

Let me say this about that, Patrick. Here in remote N. Idaho, we watched the brainless bums in Boise fiddlefart around with the idea of expanding Medicaid but do damn all for years. The local Democrats finally went out and got a citizen's initiative up to expand Medicare as it was envisioned in Obamacare. The Republicans were wroth. They immediately tried to pass laws that made the initiative process much more difficult. Those were all rejected by the courts. So after all this BS, the initiative was on the ballot. It passed with 66% of the vote. The Republicans didn't even have the good grace to be embarrassed.

This isn't about Idaho is it? It's about China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the US. The US is there only because as Patrick points out, we've been like top dog there for a century. Like the Republicans in Idaho, the US figured that nothing could happen without our approval. Welcome to the multipolar 21st century, United States. You no longer have a monopoly. You're going to have to compete for the support of the other nations of the world. But I suspect that Patrick's right. We will simply double down on our behavior for the last 90+ years and it will get us exactly nowhere (it could be much worse than that). The Idaho Republicans are doing the same damn thing. All the good little Republicans will vote for slate put up by the Kootenai County John Birch Society Central committee..

Deep State and Dems are in absolute panic about Trump candidacy in 2024.

DeSantis issued a very poor/weak defense of the latest (threat of Trump arrest) legal outrage – essentially eliminating itself as a serious 2024 candidate.

The only and the best solution for DeSantis and for the US democracy is to issue a statement that

-– he will not run in 2024 elections but

-- that he will be honored if Trump selects him as VP.
